CALL OF ENTRY
In the name of International Watercolor Society – Global, IWS-Switzerland would like to invite all who share our love of watercolor to join us promoting “PEACE AND LOVE THROUGH ART.” This IWS – Switzerland initiative scheduled for 2016 will be made up of several exhibitions featuring small format watercolor paintings to be displayed in international institutions with headquarters situated in Switzerland.
OUR GOALS
- To join the call for peace.
- To use art to unite humanity by creating a project that would encourage interaction and camaraderie between artists from different nations.
- To promote watercolor painting worldwide.
- Keep the cost of the event and cost of participation minimal to make it possible for more artists to join.
- This project is open to all artists over 15 years of age and of any nationality.
- Painting subject must reflect the theme: "PEACE AND LOVE ”
- Only original works in minimum 80% watercolor will be accepted. The watercolor must be done on paper and must be sent unframed.
- Painting dimensions to observe Minimum: 9 x 15 cm Maximum: 21 x 30 cm
- Up to 2 works per participant.
- In order to minimize the cost to the organizers and to make it possible that we do not require a participation fee, the rules of mail art will be adopted. The submitted paintings will not be returned but instead will be donated to the project.
- Submission starts on December 25, 2015 and will be open up until April 30, 2016. All paintings sent by mail must be postmarked on or before April 30, 2016.
- Artists may join together to send their entries as a group to help minimize posting cost.
- To complement the physical exhibition, a virtual gallery will be created. All news will be published in the official site: peaceandlovethroughart.blogspot.com and in our Facebook-page: “Peace and Love through Art”
- At the end of the series of exhibitions, we are proposing an auction or sale of the donated artworks with the collected proceeds going to the IWS – Global watercolor promotion fund. This may be used for similar future exhibitions, purchase of watercolor supplies for free teaching projects or for activities that will help promote watercolor painting in general.
- On the original work, label the back in pencil (please do not use ink or markers) with the following details: Name of artist Title of artwork Size Country
- Scan or take a photo of the artwork. Because of the expected number of entries, we may not have enough time to scan or photograph the original artwork for cataloguing. Rename the pic file following the format Artist name_title_dimensions.jpg (Example: William_Turner_Blue Rigi_15x21cm.jpg)
- Download and accomplish the registration form.
- Send the registration form and painting pic file to the official email: peaceandlovethroughart@gmail.com Subject of email: name and country of the participant.
- Send the original painting/s in an envelop (preferably with a cardboard of the same size to protect the corners) to the address we will give to you receiving the email with the photo.
The Organizers have the right to display, photograph or make a video recording of the participating artworks for promotional purposes. By participating in this event the artist accepts all points of this Call of Entry.
